Summer 2025
It’s been a long and eventful summer. Or should I say “year”? I haven’t updated this site in so long! My kiddo came home from college and is just finishing up some administrative loose ends, wrapping up a biochemistry degree; Nick launched a book, had a few editions of his zine, Suburban Grindhouse Magazine, come out, and has other books in the works(!!!); we’ve been to a few concerts, a couple of book events, hung out with a few friends, and have just been doing every-day stuff. I’ve been at my job for five years as of this month and have just received favorable admissions decisions from one PhD and two MBA programs – deciding whether I want to do anything with that or whether I want to put the time and money into making a film instead. (I finally showed Nick my old graduate project film, Popping Stitches, and he asked me why I never became a film director. It kind of inspired me.) I have a new idea for a novel (because when don’t I?), got a new tattoo last month, and am overall feeling ambitious as we roll into fall. Let’s do it!

Last night, my husband Nick and I saw the new Yorgos Lanthimos film, Kinds of Kindness. I knew nothing about it, going in – hadn’t seen a trailer, hadn’t read any reviews. It was fantastic! His last film, Poor Things (his most commercial and an Oscar-winner), wasn’t one of my favorites, but I am a big fan of The Lobster and The Killing of a Sacred Deer. Kinds of Kindness is bizarre triptych of dark absurdist tales that left us laughing and saying: “Oh, my god, what???” We’re going to watch Dogtooth today. And I hear Lanthimos is working on a project with Ari Aster – can’t wait for that one!

Happy Independence Day/4th of July!
Last night, Nick and I went to a screening of Final Destination 3, presented by the Brooklyn Horror Society over at the Lucky 13 Saloon. It was fun. There are a few writers in their group – it was nice to get out and network a little bit after enjoying a silly movie. We’re looking forward to the next movie and the trivia nights they host at the bar across the street.
Today, we’re off work for the holiday, Nick’s working on film reviews, and I’m working on my production management book.
