BROOKLYN MONARCH – Black N’ Blue Bowl

May 24, 2025

When I was in high school, I heard an album (okay, a cassette) that was like nothing I’d ever heard before – it blew my mind and I listened to it over and over and over. Yep, it was Suicidal’s first album. From the iconic “Institutionalized” to the apocalyptic “Memories of Tomorrow”… oh, man, I loved them all. And I still do. There are days I’ll be sitting at my desk at work with “Possessed” running through my head. When we saw them in May, that was the first time I’d seen them – I don’t know why, just worked out that way. But they were fantastic! Such an energetic performance, and the whole crowd sang along to “I Saw Your Mommy” – it was amazing! You’ll notice from my pics that I didn’t get too close to the stage, though – I’m a little too old for the pit these days!
